The exhibition will include paintings, illustrations, photography, assemblage, and sculpture. Contributing artists are from North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, and New Jersey.
Exhibition hangs for eight weeks, with an opening reception on Saturday, June 29th, 2013.Join the event page here

They say there are two things you should avoid discussing in order to avoid confrontation – one of them being RELIGION, the other being POLITICS. Well, we are not the type to avoid confrontation.
With that in mind, Thrive Studios, in conjunction with Anvil & Ink Tattoo and Gallery
, presents their next show: Politicize.
This show is an opportunity for our artists to delve into taboo subject matter and express some strong opinions. This is a show not to be missed – one that will have everyone talking. The show will open on SATURDAY, MARCH 30th, and will hang at Anvil & Ink for 8 weeks.pictured right: Zak Duff's "America Held Hostage: War"
A new style of art show is coming to The Soapbox Laundro Lounge Fri, March 22nd. The FORGERY exhibition will showcase an eclectic variety of art which borderlines --you guessed it-- the forgery, or mimicry, of other artists' styles. The show aims not to identically replicate existing works, but instead to mimic other artists, existing styles of art, or specific works of art. The works on display derive inspiration from elsewhere and will, in turn, create new meaning for existing works.
Pictured above, Thrive artist Zak Duff has created a graffiti-riddled truck in the style of Vincent van Gogh's "The Starry Night."
In addition, artists from the Thrive Studios collective will be drawing each others' names out of a hat and must create a piece in the style of the assigned artist. This promises to blur the lines between artists' styles, inspirations, and final product.
If you would like to submit works of art for this show, please drop us a line at ThriveStudios@gmail.com. Please send .jpeg images of works that relate to our show theme, and include your name, contact info, dimensions of each artwork, and source of inspiration. If you have an idea that you have not yet executed but would like to secure your spot in the exhibit, please email us a detailed explanation of the piece(s) you would like to create.

As we head into 2013, it is time to get our heads in gear for the second annual Buena Vista Art Colony event on a 300+ acre farm in Georgia. Hosted by Miranda Duncan of The Make Art & Thrive Foundation, the colony is an experience that pulls artists out of their comfort zones and into the wild to create integrative works of art using only the artists' surroundings...
It is a challenge that finds the artists living in the wilderness for 5 days, eating garden fresh foods, creating organic works of art by sunlight (or firelight), listening to coyotes howl in the night, and forging new friendships far outside the traditional art studio setting. We are extremely excited and looking forward to another wonderful, challenging, and rewarding year at the colony.
Artists from all over the world are invited to participate, but spaces are limited.
Applications including artist proposals are DUE BY January 15th, 2013.
